FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION’S:

How do I know if my bicycle will fit in the CELLO?

Almost all sizes of upright-style, adult bicycles will fit into the CELLO. The bicycle’s wheelbase length determines the fit and positioning of the bicycle within the CELLO. This is the distance between the front and rear dropouts of the bicycle. Bicycles with wheelbases of up to 48” will fit into the CELLO. Bicycles with wheelbases larger than this length are uncommon. Usually only extra-large, downhill-racing mountain bikes have a wheelbase longer than 48”.

All production bicycles with standard head-tube lengths and seat-tube lengths will fit inside of the CELLO. Cyclists with very large custom built frames should contact Wandertec at 1-800-717-2596 to see if their bicycle will fit in the CELLO.
Wheel sizes up to 28” will fit in the CELLO. 28” mountain bike tires will need to be deflated to fit in the CELLO.

How much does it cost to bring the CELLO on the airplane, train, or bus as luggage?

Costs for checking the CELLO can differ drastically depending on the mode of transportation and which carrier you are using. We recommend always calling ahead to determine costs for bringing your bicycle. Take a look at our SHIPPING CHARGE ESTIMATES for a comparison of shipping costs.

Can I ship the CELLO by FedEx or U.P.S.?

FedEx Ground accepts the CELLO for shipment. U.P.S. generally does not accept the CELLO because it has a fabric top cover. Take a look at our SHIPPING CHARGE ESTIMATES for a comparison of shipping the CELLO to bringing it with you.

How much does the CELLO weigh?

The CELLO bicycle case system weighs in at 20 pounds. The B.O.B. Yak trailer weighs 12 pounds and the Ibex weighs 15 pounds. For shipping, the B.O.B. trailer and bicycle packed inside of the CELLO will weigh between approximately 50 and 75 pounds depending on the weight of the bicycle and the type of trailer used.

What tools do I need to pack and unpack my bicycle in the CELLO?

The tools needed for basic bicycle disassembly and reassembly vary from bike to bike. Before leaving on a trip, be sure that you have all necessary tools for bicycle assembly. Most bicycles can be disassembled for travel with 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm Allen wrenches and a pedal wrench. These tools are also all that is needed for adjusting the CELLO front and rear bracket.

Can I pack other gear and equipment inside of the CELLO along with my bicycle?

We generally recommend that you keep all of your traveling gear packed in your Dry Sak for two reasons: #1-Once you are riding your bicycle, all of your travel gear will need to be packed in your Dry Sak. Having all of your gear packed in your Dry Sak throughout your trip, allows for a smooth transition from your transit to riding your bicycle. #2-All separate travel gear that you decide to place inside of the CELLO must be secured to prevent it from falling out the small opening on the bottom of the CELLO. In most situations it is simply easier to avoid this and to store all travel gear in the Dry Sak. When it is useful to transport gear in the CELLO with the bike, make sure that is tightly secured in place. Most bicycle racks and panniers can be fit inside the CELLO with the bicycle.

Isn’t the CELLO extra weight to carry during a long bicycle tour?

The components of the CELLO can be easily removed from the B.O.B. trailer so that they can be stored or shipped ahead during a bicycle tour. All of the components of the CELLO fit snugly inside of the parts bag. The parts bag can be utilized for securely shipping the CELLO to your next destination.

Do I need to remove components of the CELLO to use the B.O.B. trailer?

The CELLO allows you to quickly reassemble your bicycle and B.O.B. trailer and ride away from your transit’s arrival point. The CELLO remains in an out-of –the-way position on the B.O.B. trailer. Only the front bracket, top cover, and rear wheel are removed.

How will the CELLO affect the handling of the B.O.B. trailer?

The side-panels of the CELLO can be affected by very, strong side winds. When riding in strong side-winds that affect bicycle handling, the panels can be removed and stored on the bottom of the B.O.B. trailer underneath travel gear. B.O.B. trailers have a listed carrying capacity of 70 lbs.
The CELLO adds 20 lbs. to the weight of the B.O.B. trailer leaving 50 lbs. of additional gear capacity to work with.

Can I switch my CELLO between working on a B.O.B. YAK to working on a B.O.B. IBEX?

The CELLO can be used on both the B.O.B. Ibex and Yak trailers. ***Please Note: an additional bracket is required for the rear bracket of the CELLO for use with the B.O.B. Yak trailer.

Will the CELLO work with the older style B.O.B. trailer fork?

The CELLO works with all versions of the B.O.B. trailer fork.

Will the CELLO work on BOB trailers with the BOB 28 fork for 28” wheels?

Yes, the CELLO works with both Ibex and Yak Trailers that have the 28 fork installed. The position of the CELLO panels must be shifted slightly forward to accommodate the 28 fork.

Does it matter whether I’m using a B.O.B. trailer with B.O.B. Nutz or the B.O.B. quick release?

The CELLO bicycle case system works with bicycles that use either the B.O.B. Nutz or the B.O.B. quick release.
